CAPTIVE TRUCE

Taken captive in the closing actions of 1914, Lieutenant Thomas Hadley finds himself in the custody of German military intelligence. He finds hope in a speedy return with the prospect of a simple prisoner exchange to recover an Heir to the Kaiser. By year's end, Thomas looks forward to a reunion with family.

Unknown to him, forces with historical entanglements draw his decorated father, Major Hadley into the exchange only to reveal darker and more complicated objectives. The lost Kruger Gold comes into play as the prize for the interested parties.

Trust in the diplomatic core is challenged when Chester Munster, a British Intelligence officer, orchestrates the exchange with his ulterior motive of reuniting with a past love interest. The unexpected plot to sacrifice for personal gain moves Major Hadley to act in his son's and family's best interests.
Context
By July 1914, World War 1 or the Great War had officially started. One of the events that led to the start of the war was the asasination of the Heir Presumptive to Austrian Hungarian Empire, Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The motivation for the assisination lay in the expectation this would lead to change, enabling freedom from Bosnia and Herzegovina of Austria-Hungarian rule and establish a common South Slav ("Yugoslav") state.
Unfortunately, the assination destablised the region owing to the complex existance of treaties between the various Monarchies and Imperial powers. This drew many nations along with their colonial possesions into the conflict resulting in what became the First World War.
