Technical Details
The SE5a, originally introduce in 1916 had a number of technical issues that when resolved put a reliable and well liked aircraft into service. It was very stable and easy to fly making it a favourite amoungst pilots. The Sopwith Camel, a contemproary of the SE5a was faster and more manuverable, however the SE5a was superior in a dive.
Relevance
In Fading Dawn, Reginald Hadley an officer in the Aircorps flies this aircraft. He is tasked with escourting a squadron across the Channel to their new aerodrome.
