The Berlin Conference of 1884-1885 divided up the African continent between Imperial powers. Defeated in the First Boer War, Imperial Britain's policy remains the unficiation of all territories including the Boer Republics. By 1889, owing to the mass influx of foreigners precipitated by a gold and diamond rush, the next war is brewing in South Africa. The Southern tip of Africa is highy contested fo the furtherance of trade and dominance in a world playiing by the rules of the Imperial Powers. The children of the Van Vuuren family return to their home country after being educated in Europe to the Boer Republics wantting to maintain their identity but struggling to cope with the change in world around them.

Forming valueable relationships with the Europen powers, the Van Vuurens offer Krugrer's administration a chance at victory through the support of food and arms but it must be paid for in gold. As the second war starts, Imperial Britain sends one its most effective commanders Captain Manson Andronicus Hadley to lead the incursion against the Van Vuuren faction to weaken and compromise Kruger's chance at victory.

A young officer, Lieutenent Chester Munster joins he column with a very different mandate. He knows the Van Vuurens and the Order hopes that his relationship can be exploited to their benefit. Unkown to them, his personal interests are not to be trusted.
Context
The Second Boer War started in 1889, 9 October. After convincing the Orange Free State to join him and mobilising their forces, Kruger issued an ultimatum giving Britain 48 hours to withdraw all their troops from the border of Transvaal. Otherwise, the Transvaal, allied with the Orange Free State, would declare war. The ultimatumn was only recieved in London after it expired, and subsequently they were at war.
